7 Tips How To Have A Great Start Each Day

It is like running, when you start great, you are way ahead of your competitor. You get to accomplish more and you feel great about it. I believe that there are days when you feel totally motivated and can’t wait to get things done.

On the other hand, there will be days where you feel totally lack of energy and no motivation at all. You just want to get lazy and put things off. This is totally common and it happens to everyone.

The secret to living a successful life is in handling each day and making everyday great. Successful people have had bad days too, it is just that they have learned how to cope with these tough times and keep moving forward.

You have to be the same. If you want to produce outstanding success in life, you have to learn how to manage your motivation and start each day great. Here are the 7 tips that can help…

1. Get the Champion’s Breakfast

Well you don’t really have to eat a lot of food in the morning, but you definitely have to get a healthy breakfast.

Breakfast, as the name suggest, is to break the fasting. You will feel empty after the long sleep and your body will crave for food. If you eat too heavy you may feel sleepy after that as your stomach has to do the extra work.

So eat moderately and healthily. Oatmeal, whole-grain bread, milk, fruits, eggs, yogurt, veggies, etc are great food to start your day.

2. Prepare for the Day

If you don’t prepare for it, you will need to prepare to go through a rough day. Before you start your day, you need to either be ready for what you need to get done either the night before or in the morning before you start your work.

If you did not prepare for it, you will feel like a lost sheep, don’t know what to do. And worse, if there are sudden works that needed to attend to immediately. You may lose the sense of time and go through your day in a mess.

The best suggestion is to write down 3 or 5 important tasks that needed to get done during the day and get them done as soon as you start your day.

3. Start with Your Gratitude List

When you start by writing down what you appreciate and be thankful for each day, you will see changes in yourself. When you focus in things that you have rather than things that you don’t, you will feel happier, more fulfilled and have more confidence.

What you can do is to either write down at least 10 things that you are grateful for each day. Or you can just write them once and then reread every day. If you reread your gratitude list every day, make it longer and you can write it in paragraphs instead of list.

It is said that when you feel more grateful, you get luckier and you will attract more abundance into your life.

4. Know Your Mission

What are your goals and what are the dreams that you are pursuing? Most people fail to achieve their goals because they did not review their goals every day. They set their goals and then forget about them.

“Out of sight, out of mind.” When you forget about your goals, you will never do anything to accomplish them. So each morning right after you wake up, remind yourself about your goals and your mission in life.

In fact, your goals and your dreams are going to motivate you to get you out of your bed. If they are not motivating, maybe they are not emotional or big enough to drive you.

5. Exercise and Stretch Out

If you read the book, What The Most Successful People Do Before Breakfast by Laura Vanderkam, you will understand that most successful people workout and exercise in the morning before the day starts.

Great leaders and successful people such as Xerox CEO, Ursula Burns, Christie’s CEO Steve Murphy and Starwood Hotels CEO Frits van Paasschen, started their day with exercises and workouts.

When you exercise and workout, your brain will release endorphin that will make you feel happy and relief you stress. Not only that, exercises help you to better focus in your work later in the day and helps you to sleep better at night.

6. Wake Up Early

Almost all the great people who have accomplished outstanding success in life wake up earlier than most ordinary people. PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi wakes up as early as 4am, Disney CEO Bob Iger starts his day at 430am to read, and Square CEO Jack Dorsey gets up at 530am each day to jog.

When you get up early, you have more time to prepare and more productive time to spend to get more things done without distraction. This is especially true if you are a decision maker for your company. There will be tons of emails to reply and decisions to make during the day.

So you might want to wake up early to have more personal time and do things that are important to you.

7. Reading

Great leaders read a lot. And reading is considered one of the best ways to start your day great. Depending on what books you read, if you read business books, it may give you insight about running your business. If you read motivational books, you may get pump up for your day.

Not only that, reading also improves your verbal ability and helps you to focus better in your work. Reading a book requires a longer sitting and better concentration from your mind. You will train yourself for that.

Furthermore, reading helps you to be more imaginative. When you read, your mind will process the words and turn them into pictures in your head. You will improve your imagination and in the same time, learn the knowledge from the author of the book.

These are the 7 tips how to have a great start each day. You may not want to apply all these 7 tips immediately. The most important ones are to eat healthy breakfast, to prepare for your day and know your mission.

If you don’t have all the time in the morning to workout, you can just do some quick exercise and move your body and stretch out. Read whenever you can and be grateful for all the things that you have with you.
