If you haven’t had a chance to see him perform live you’ve probably seen him on The Oprah Winfrey Show when he carried out the act of holding his breath under water for over 17 minutes. He broke the world record then.

His obsession with magic started when he was a young boy. A boy who couldn’t walk well but loved playing baseball. Still, this did not stop him from dreaming big.

So he tried swimming. But because he couldn’t swim as fast as the other kids he realized that the only way to beat everyone else, was by holding his breath during the entire race, which made him swim faster.

He would swim, but wouldn’t breathe. And that’s when he found one of his many special talents.

David Blaine found what he was good at, focused all his energy on it and broke the world records. He had a dream that he knew he wanted to reach, turned it into a goal and made it come true.

I once had to give a speech in front of five hundred people. I was well prepared and had previously mastered the techniques for crushing the fear of public speaking, but just as I had started talking I experienced a sudden block.

I could not finish my thought.

My palms were sweating and I felt extremely uncomfortable as everyone was staring at me.

So I had to do what I do best – come up with a story. Instead of standing there and staring at the audience apologizing for forgetting my speech, I continued with my storyline. My little tale was so vivid that even my colleagues thought it was true. And, the audience loved it.

When you are faced with an uncomfortable situation or you doubt yourself that you are capable of dealing with what’s coming, just pause for a moment, take a deep breath and give yourself time to think.

What was that one thing that you found you were good at? How does it make you feel?

Powerful, right?

Keep thinking of yourself as an expert, your experience and knowledge led you to where you are today. And your self-belief and positive attitude will get you where you want to be.

Using your strengths will not only make you feel better about yourself but it will also motivate you to learn new skills and develop yourself further.

2. Share Your Gift With The World.

Sharing your talents with others can be one of the most gratifying things you can do for yourself that will help boost your confidence.

Give back to the people you love and to your community by helping them live a better life. Share your talents with them. Cook a warm meal for a person who needs it, share a story with someone who cannot read, teach a child a new skill.

When you help someone in need you feel a sense of accomplishment, which helps you move forward and motivates you to do even more good. You are making a difference in the world by being present and making people happy. This can have an amazing impact on your overall self-confidence and will feed your mind with the positivity that you need.

3.Triumph Over Negativity.

Don’t be afraid to fail. It will take time to master your skill. Practice. Be patient and work hard. Do it until you master it. Don’t stop.

When you fail you have to let go of the negative thoughts. Think of your past successes and learn from your mistakes. Do not dwell on disappointments.

And if someone tries to bring you down or criticize your hard work, just ignore them. They feel scared and threatened by your success because they don’t have the courage to make a change and better their lives.
