5 Steps You Can Take When Everything Is Going Wrong

You lost your job.

Your car broke down.

You lose everything you owned.

Sounds impossible?

Well this is happening to many people around the world.

Everything around them seems to be caving in on them and they’re at their wits end.

We all have difficult times and if you haven’t yet, you will.

So I want to share with you 5 steps you can take to survive and thrive when everything appears to be going wrong.

Acceptance

When everything in our lives seem to be going wrong we easily and quickly begin to display self-pity.

We start blaming other people for what is happening to us.

“If only….”, is a common phrase when you begin to pity yourself.

Getting into this sate of self-pity only leads to sadness and later depression.

Depression is a state you don’t want to be in because it will not allow you to move towards change.

That is why acceptance is the first step you must step when life seems to be beating you down.

Acceptance does not necessarily mean you like what is going on or that you even agree with what is going on.

It simply means that you acknowledge you are going through a tough time in life and are ready to deal with it head on.

We all go through these patches in life when everything around us seems to be coming in on us.

Accept that this is part of life and now it’s your turn.

Differentiate what you can and cannot do

There are times when you can’t change certain things in your life.

Your back is up against the wall and there is no help in sight.

However, there is always something you can change.

You always have a chance and choice to change at least one aspect of your life.

It’s usually the most difficult decision you have to make, however, it is the character building tool you need to grow.

For example, let’s say you have absolutely no money.

Your next paycheck is in two days.

In the meantime, your  family that is not willing or able to help you.

Your 4 month old is in need of milk.

She’s crying her eyes out because she’s hungry.

You know that the next door neighbor has a newborn baby and may have some extra milk.

Your only choice is to knock on her door to ask for help.

The problem is, you never talk to her nor do you like her very much.

Like in this scenario, we are given chances to change our situation even if it’s just a small change.

We must be able to find these small opportunities if we are ever going to survive.

Surround yourself with positive people

Going through life alone is a fear some people have.

And although it can be scary, going through life surrounded by negative people is even worse.

When life is beating you down it it’s important to surround yourself with people who truly want the best for you.

Surrounding yourself with positive people will help ease your stress by providing an outlet.

I have heard, “behind every good man is a great woman.”

Because the man had someone in his corner rooting for him to succeed he was able to have the confidence to push though all adversities he faced.

In like manner we all need supporters who will push us towards our greatness.

If you don’t have that support from people you know, seek professional help.

Start with a life coach.

Life coaches are there to push, encourage and support you through life’s most challenging times.

Learn your lesson

The next step, which may be the hardest, is to learn your lesson.

Adversity comes our way in order to strengthen our character.

As children we might have thought not getting the toy we wanted was the greatest pain we can go through.

Although it was tough for us at the time, we can now look back at the situation and laugh.

We have since learned how to be grateful for what we did have growing up as opposed to what we didn’t.

Think about it this way: Life is a training ground.

It was created to prepare you to be wise, strong, confident and pure.

The problem is, it’s not easy.

You will get mud on your face, bumps and bruises; scars and broken bones.

Those who fight the hardest will endure the most.

In the end they will live a life fulfilled and finish on top.

Be patient

Lastly, be patient.

Be patient with yourself and with the process.

Understand that this is only a phase in life and it will be over in time.
