Turn Your Inspiration Into a Plan for the Future
You just woke up in the middle of the night with a spark of inspiration.
It was so real.
The solution to all of the problems of mankind came to you.
You grab the notebook and pen that you keep near your bed for when inspiration strikes and jot down the basics.
Surely, you’ll forget it if you don’t take some notes.
But what are you going to do with those seemingly insane notes when you are fully awake?
Take time to do the following and make your dreams come true.
Turn inspiration into a detailed vision and create a story of the future
Imagination is a very powerful tool that we don’t use nearly as much as we should.
Use your imagination to create a story of where you will be as your inspiration becomes a reality.
Who is around you?
What does it feel like, smell like and sound like?
If you want a successful detailed vision make sure you create a story that holds all of the elements that you desire and make sure to imagine the senses.
The more senses that you use in your vision the more powerful it will be.
My future vision is detailed and full of nuance
I imagine that I am with walking with my wife, wearing my military dress blues.
She is on my left wearing a smashing green dress that is almost like a Roman tunic but more modern.
It is May 17, 2047.
In front of us is a double door.
I grab the brass handle to open the door for her.
I hear birds singing, the handle is cool in my hand.
Slowly I open the door and she enters the room full of people we have met over the years.
Some are very rich, some obviously poor, all sorts of cultures and races are represented and all are there to celebrate with us on our 50th anniversary.
While I may not remember all of the names, I do remember the faces and stories of our lives shared together.
My kids are there.
We sit at the head table after going through a buffet line and eat fried chicken, spaghetti, soft rolls, and cake.
There are no doctors sitting at our table warning us against salt or fat.
Once we are done eating, we dance together.
I am 75 and she is much younger but we still get around very well.
There are some slow dances but mostly polkas.
After much visiting and conversation, we make our way out to our car which is paid off, to drive to our paid-off house that is living off of the grid.
The vision highlights some things.
My inspiration is to have my wife with me for the rest of my life.
I can still wear my dress blues even though at that point I would have been out of the Army for about 40 years.
I have no health concerns.
Look for the vision
Your vision, even if in the fog of our minds, is sitting out there someplace.
As you walk around, imagine actually looking for it or for where your inspired vision might come in handy.
Recently my son dreamed of inventing something.
He was not too sure what he would invent but he had an inspiration to make something.
As he looked for his vision, he noticed that we were being inundated by ladybugs.
One might be cute but 100s are a nasty infestation.
He decided that he would invent a trap to lure and capture these varmints.
I don’t know yet if it will work but it definitely can’t hurt.
Look for your inspiration under rocks and in the trees.
Everywhere you go listen to someone talking about needs or ideas.
Talk about your inspiration
There is something about talking about an inspired thought that begins to make it real.
Someone might have seen something similar and can give you direction on how to make it happen.
Others might simply encourage you because they also see the need for you to fulfill your vision.
Talking about it can begin to give it shape.
Where it was almost meaningless in your head, it now takes some form and you can begin to move forward in making it happen.
I was at a meeting just recently where we all had an idea but nothing was concrete.
We wanted to help those who are experiencing poverty and enjoy great food, drink, and music all at the same time.
There are many events that might help but how do you talk about poverty without being a real bummer to a good time?
Someone threw out one idea, someone else.
Before you know it we came up with a plan that will be fun, informative, and provide an interactive opportunity for others to be a part of the solution.
If we would have held our initial inspiration inside this awesome event would never have come to light.
Pictures will help bring your inspiration to life
I read the story of a young man who wanted to be a big-league ball player.
When he was eleven, he had a picture taken of himself in a full New York Yankee uniform.
When he wanted to quit and keep his vision to himself, he would look at the picture and remember his dream.
He did go on to make it by the way.
Most of the guys that I know have seen Rocky 4 where Rocky has a picture up of the man he is about to fight.
Why does he do that?
So he can stay motivated and remember what he is doing in Russia.
He stays inspired and wins the fight.
What is symbolic of your inspired vision?
Put that someplace that you will see it and remember it.
Go visit the finish line of the race that you want to run and get a picture of yourself crossing it.
Make it real with pictures.
Don’t forget that there will be work involved
However you do it, you must work to put some skin and muscles on the skeleton of your dream.
Far too many people watched their dreams turn to dust and they are now sitting in nursing homes wondering what life could have been like.
Don’t be like them.
Capture your inspiration and prepare yourself.
Envision your success and make it real.
Today is your day.
Have you ever gotten a sudden spark of inspiration?
What did you do with it?

We would love to chat with you.

These inspirational statements have transformed my ways of thinking and doing things.
From now on I shall revisit my earlier dreams and do things in a different way to ensure that my dreams do not become dust.
Exciting.
