George Santayana was a Spanish-American philosopher and critic who is known for spouting short, memorable expressions of truth, many of which are still used today.
Born in December of 1863 in Spain, Santayana immigrated to the United States when he was a young boy.
He would grow up to attend Harvard College and, after completing his doctoral thesis, he became a professor of philosophy there as well.
