5 Things To Add To Your Morning Routine

What does your morning routine consist of?

What do you feed your body and mind?

You might be thinking….”Wait…I don’t even have a morning routine!”

And that’s okay; keep reading!

Whether you wake up at 5 a.m. or 11 a.m., we all have a pattern.

We all have a set of behaviors that we usually do.

Are you aware of yours?

The latest brain research shows that our willpower and focus are at their highest in the morning.

Unfortunately, many of us waste that golden time fumbling through emails and social media.

While others work out, use their morning routine chart and plan for the day.

So what do some of the world’s most successful people do in the morning?

How can we use the morning to create momentum for the day?

How can we best use our morning and willpower to our advantage?

So…what does a great morning routine look like?

Please keep reading to learn the five things to add to your morning routine to make it great!

1. Live in Three’s

Living in three’s is the first step to a great morning routine.

What are the three most important things you must do today?

Without any excuse or compromises, what makes the top three slots on your agenda?

Brian Tracy recommends the ABCDE method:

A – What I must get done

B – What I would like to get done

C – What would be nice if I got done

D – What is one thing I can delegate

E – What is one thing I will NOT do today?

I love this because it’s critical to focus on what we will do and clarify what we will not do.

2. For a Good Morning Routine, Fill Up the Tank

Don’t really fill yourself up, but make sure you have an energy-producing breakfast.

Sometimes we can fool ourselves into thinking that we are not early-morning eaters but make a habit of having something.

Fruits, veggies, yogurt, cereal…something healthy!

Don’t overlook it!

Food is fuel, and our energy is everything!

Man…I’m hungry!

3. Get Your Mind Right

For some people, it’s meditation or prayer.

Others might like listening to something inspirational.

Whatever it is, it is critical to cultivate feelings of gratitude, happiness, self-love, and love for others first thing in the morning.

If you want to write it down, do it.

If you want to visualize all the people you are thankful to have in your life, do it!

Take some time to give thanks for all the amazing people and things you have in your life.

Be thankful for your health, your progress in your life, and where you are in your journey right now.

Before you get moving with your day, take time to be thankful for where you are in the moment.

4. Include a Push, Pull, Run, or Walk in Your Morning Routine

Let’s get the body moving!

There is just no substitute for movement.

Motion produces an emotion, and you want to feel great!

How often do you move?

The key is to find consistency, and it’s easier to be consistent if we are having fun.

For example, I love martial arts. So every single day, I am throwing hundreds of kicks and punches.

I love it.

What movements do you love?

Is it dance?

Running?

Jumping around?

Holding a funky yoga position?

Find what movements you love and do them until you sweat.

5. Send Out a Message

Who haven’t you spoken to in a long time?

Who can you text or message, thank you?

I believe the quality of our life is linked to the quality of our relationships.

Getting caught up in tasks is very easy, but relationships are essential.

Who can you connect with that will make you feel good?

Maybe it’s a friend, an old colleague, or someone new who you have met.

Maybe this person can help you with a personal or professional goal.

Continue to cultivate the habit of reaching out and staying in contact.

Of course, your life is up to you, but having other people in it to help and to witness…is a beautiful thing.

Stay connected.

But wait…how do you even make a morning routine?

Creating a morning routine can be difficult, depending on where you are, with your enthusiasm for change.

Any change is often painful in the beginning, sloppy towards the middle, but beautiful towards the end.

Keep that in mind.

I recommend using a chart or some other visual to help you stay on track.

Have fun with it.

If you miss a day, don’t beat yourself up.

Acknowledge it, see where you went wrong, and get back at it tomorrow.
