Betsy Ross’ full name is Elizabeth Griscom Ross.

She was married three times, so her last name went from Ross to Ashburn to Claypoole.

She was an accomplished upholsterer, but what made her famous is the fact that many believe that she made the first official American Flag which is now referred to as the Betsy Ross flag.

The story is that George Washington and two congressional committee members visited Mrs. Ross in 1776.
