In reality, lightning does strike twice 

The phrase “lightning never strikes the same place twice” is a common one, but as it turns out, it’s not really true. 

In fact, lightning can and does strike the same place multiple times, sometimes over and over again. 

This is largely due to the fact that some objects are taller and more conducive to lightning than others. 

According to www.accuweather.com, Willis Tower in Chicago was hit with 250 lightning strikes between the years 2015 and 2020, making it the most-struck object in the United States.

Willis Tower ranks third in the U.S. for the tallest tower, coming in at 1,451 feet above the ground. 

Other commonly struck buildings include One World Trade Center, The Empire State Building, and Bank of America Plaza.
