Being a leader requires you to embrace selflessness. It is always about the value, positive change, and community you can build. When you have a vision that is innovative and has the power to change the world, you must be able to communicate it to the masses. I find the approaches Mr. Sinek espouses to be thought provoking and fresh. As a 70 y.o. I’ve spent a good bit of my life trying to get a jumbled mass of puzzle pieces to fit into a frame, and resemble something of a picture. My first exposure to Simon Sinek were his thoughts on warfare. As a cold war bombs and bullets guy (More appropriately an electronic warfare…specialist) I’ve always known the cannon-cockers days had pretty much passed. And starting with Vietnam, it was obvious “asymmetrical” warfare was here to stay. And it was not about clear cut right and wrong, or good and bad.

I knew in sixth grade I would not live long enough to learn everything I wanted to learn, or experience all the things I wanted to experience…but this time in history is especially exciting, as we are on the verge of new ways of thinking and new breakthroughs in virtually all areas of human endeavor. Simon Sinek is one of those purveyors of new thought, that will hopefully change our way of seeing things.
